Mobile Applications

Building mobile apps, particularly for iPhone and iPad, has been my main focus for over 15 years. During that time, I’ve helped launch new products for established companies and entrepreneurs alike, developed internal business apps that improved and streamlined workflows, and maintained and expanded established apps that are used by thousands of people every day.

Apps I’ve worked on have included technologies such as:

  • Location services

  • Photography and camera features

  • Media playback

  • Remote data syncing

I strongly believe that native mobile apps, built using the standard tools for each platform, provide the best experience for users and the most value for owners. My goal is always build apps that can stay modern and maintainable for years to come.

iOS Apps

iOS is my core expertise. Since 2009 I’ve worked on nearly two dozen apps, across a broad range of fields, using both established and cutting-edge Apple technologies. I’ve successfully navigated multiple major framework transitions, along with Apple’s regular annual OS updates. I’ve developed apps that were optimized for only iPhone or iPad, as well as apps designed to run well on either.

Android Apps

While iOS is my primary platform, I understand that cross-platform availability is often critical to businesses, so I also develop applications for Android to help clients reach users on both platforms. And, for special purpose devices and kiosk installations, the combination of good software and inexpensive devices can make Android a good solution.

iPad Apps

iPadOS is an amazing platform, and I’ve always enjoyed using it and building apps for it!

Most of the iPhone apps I’ve developed have also supported iPad. Designing and implementing interfaces that work well on both platforms is always rewarding, and I’m excited to do it.

It’s also possible to use iPad apps on modern Macs with very few changes, giving you access to laptop and desktop users, as well.

Apple Ecosystem

Leveraging Apple’s development platform and supporting technologies, such as Core Data and iCloud, makes it possible to create great user experiences and powerful tools. Modern tools such as SwiftUI and Catalyst make it easier than ever to build apps that can extend all of Apple’s platforms: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and CarPlay.

For new platforms like visionOS and the Vision Pro, I study and stay current regarding capabilities and best practices so I can advise and guide you as they grow over time.

Websites

Every organization and needs a web presence. Social media is important, but having a website that you own is essential. It allows you to easily move between social networks without losing your online identity, while better controlling how you present yourself to the world.

Whether you need a full-scale website for your company, a simple landing page for an app, or anything in between, I can help you build you navigate your online strategy.

My goal is to help you get started, teach you as much as you need (or want) to know, and walk alongside you all the way.

Backend Services

Nearly every mobile app needs to talk to a server of some kind. I can design and implement a complete solution:

  • RESTful APIs

  • Cloud deployments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or hosted server)

  • Database design

  • User authentication

  • Data synchronization

I also have extensive experience integrating apps with existing infrastructures. I’ll help you understand the choices and make the right decision for your needs.
